Economic Mobility Pathways Pilot
Many refugees and displaced persons are in a position to quickly contribute to the labour market. On March 27, 2023, the federal government announced the Economic Mobility Pathways Pilot (EMPP) will be expanded to include a new federal pathway to address labour shortages in key occupations like healthcare, engineering, and information technology. This expansion aims to streamline the EMPP process for refugees and displaced individuals who qualify for existing provincial or regional economic immigration programs, and to allow employers to hire candidates from any NOC 2021 category. The Canadian government aims to welcome some 2000 permanent residents through this pilot.
